Omega Rice is a complementary feed that is designed to be top dressed onto an existing ration at a level of intake of 50 - 200 g / 100kg body weight. Omega Rice has a number of unique benefits that arise as a result of its specific formulation.Many of the features of this product have potential benefit for a range of different horses as out lined below.

FOR ADDED CONDITION

Omega Rice is a very energy dense feed that can be used to top dress onto your existing ration. Feeding a small amount of this product daily, in conjunction with your regular feed, will effortlessly promote condition.

As much of the energy supplied by the Omega Rice is in the form of oil, which is a recognized slow release form of energy, it is less likely to cause excitable or over exuberant behavior during conditioning.

BALANCED CALCIUM TO PHOSPHORUS RATIO

Both Rice bran and Linseed contain a low level of calcium relative to phosphorus giving them what's termed a low calcium to phosphorus ratio. Omega Rice  contains added limestone to provide a balanced calcium to phosphorus ratio, which is important to maintain the calcium to phosphorus ratio of the overall diet and hence help maintain skeletal and muscle health.

OMEGA 3 FATTY ACIDS

Inclusion of micronised linseed and rice bran provides a source of both omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, which help maintain skin health and promote good coat condition. There is some scientific evidence to suggest that the omega 3 fatty acids from linseed may help to maintain skin health in horses or ponies at risk from sweet itch.

Additionally omega 3 fatty acids are reputed to have widespread beneficial effects in the body  including a soothing effect on inflammation. Omega 3 fatty acids are therefore of benefit to help maintain the respiratory and immune systems in particular.

ANTIOXIDANTS

Antioxidants that are provided in the diet are vitally important to help protect the body from the detrimental effects of substances known as free radicals. Free radicals are produced as a natural consequence of metabolism, but can damage cells and tissues. Omega Rice provides a rich and natural source of antioxidants including tocopherols, tocotrienols and oryzanols and has been fortified with vitamin E, an important fat soluble antioxidant vitamin that is especially important where horses are fed a diet that is high in oil.
